The motto of Taste of Fit

"Healthy or taste, why choose?"

About me

I've always been passionate about using whole foods to create tasty meals. In 2000, I decided to start documenting my culinary journey and sharing advice with others. Today, my loyal readers love Taste Of Fit as a place to find seasonal recipes and tips on how to make holistic diet changes that make them feel great.
One of the most important things to me is that my readers believe in themselves as chefs. With a little dedication, anyone can make the best dishes. Take a look around the site to find out what inspires you to start cooking.

From Personal Experience to Professional Passion

As a teenager going through puberty, I experienced weight gain, which resulted in a decrease in energy and an increase in illnesses. The verbal aggression I experienced because of my weight led me to drastically change course and start a crash diet. This was the start of a disordered eating pattern and yo-yo weight that lasted about ten years. Despite my best efforts through dieting and excessive exercise, every attempt ended in disappointment and frustration. This approach had a devastating effect on both my physical and mental health, and I eventually developed an eating disorder.

After years of struggle, I realized that my approach was unrealistic and that something had to change. I decided to do in-depth research into the science behind nutrition, sports and health. This knowledge not only changed my life, but also shaped my career path.

Cooking in Lockdown: The Origin of 'Taste of Fit'

Like many, my work was suddenly interrupted during the pandemic, leaving me with an unexpected amount of free time. Inspired by the many positive reactions I had received in the past about my creative, healthy dishes and cooking skills, I decided to share this passion through social media. Thus "Taste of Fit" was born. This platform gave me the freedom to take my culinary experiments to the next level, focusing on developing and refining tasty and healthy recipes.

After years of self-study and experience, I formally expanded my knowledge by training to become a nutritionist and sports nutrition advisor. These studies deepened my understanding of nutritional science, applied to both general health and sports performance, and helped me develop a healthier relationship with my own body.

From Struggle to Success

My personal struggle with disordered eating patterns and constant exposure to restrictive diets has shaped my mission to expose and combat such diets. By combining my passion for delicious food and cooking with my knowledge of food science, what started as a hobby transformed into my professional career.

The start of the collaboration with Your Personal Best

At the beginning of 2023, I joined forces with the personal training studio "Your Personal Best" in Knokke-Heist. This collaboration unites experts in fitness, nutrition, health and general well-being. Together we focus on guiding people to the best version of themselves. We do this by offering new insights and an adapted mindset, always with the focus on a personal approach that suits each unique individual.
